Wanted: creative outlet

I love reading other people's blogs. It is one of my favorite ways to pass the time. I can spend an embarrasing amount of time reading blog after blog. I just love to get a glimpse into other people's lives...what is going on in the lives of my friends and family, what complete strangers are creating or loving (or as the beloved Pioneer Woman would say, what makes their skirts fly up!). I am truly amazed as to what women out there are doing. The ways that the Lord has blessed these women is truly inspiring and can be somewhat humbling.

I have always felt as though I was a creative person. I am fairly crafty- scrapbook paper and modge podge are two of the best things ever. I can even handle a glue gun without scorching my skin or anything else around me. Growing up I loved nothing more than to create, whether it be drawing, painting, dancing, writing, if I could use my imagination I was there. Somewhere along the way I lost a little of that. I still have this huge desire to be creative and to find the right outlet to release that desire, but I just am not flowing with the same creative juices. I think when I became a boring old grown-up with a real job, I started ignoring my inner creative genius and now she is not sure how to get out. So this is a goal for mine in 2011...to fall in love with creating again. I have lots of ideas in my head but I do not have all the tools to turn them into something tangible...yet. I love to learn new things and I have a long list of things I want to learn. So in no particular order, here are a few things I hope to learn how to do:

*sew- I cannot sew for the life of me...not even a button. My mom is a great seamstress and you would think I would have learned this domestic skill from her...but no such luck. I just take my coats and shirts to her to fix! So I want to learn how to sew so that I can sew my own buttons back on, and make pillows, and curtains, and cute baby clothes when that need arises:)

*graphic design- I would love to be able to create cards, art prints, etc. but I have a LOOONNNGG way to go for this one considering that I cannot even customize my blog design yet!! I do not like to attempt things that I am not good at immediately, but I am determined to learn how to do this one. I just think it would be so handy!

*cake decorating- I want my cupcakes to look like the ones on cupcake wars....with the pretty, puffy frosting and fancy details.

I think I will stop there before I start getting stressed out by all the things I hope to learn! My goal is to learn at least one of these skills by summertime....I shall keep you posted!
